In ancient times, monsters and demons roamed freely, bringing chaos to the world. A mysterious Taoist granted the powers of the five elements—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—to five noble families to protect humanity. These "Five Envoys" drove the monsters into the Foggy Mountains and sealed them behind a massive barrier.*

The story follows Wenren Yixuan, the Fire Envoy, who committed a grave mistake by opening the "Giant Shield Aegis" to save his sick mother. This action allowed the Holy Beast (the Qilin's cub) to escape, attracting powerful demons who desire the beast’s spiritual energy to break the barrier. Now an exile, Wenren Yixuan travels through the treacherous mountain terrain to retrieve the cub and atone for his sins, all while fighting off monstrous entities and uncovering secrets hidden within a village that has its own dark ties to the demon realm.
