Guts, known as the "Black Swordsman," is a lone mercenary wandering a medieval world filled with demonic beings known as Apostles. Carrying a massive blade called the Dragon Slayer and branded with a mark that attracts spirits of the dead, Guts is on a relentless quest for vengeance against Griffith—his former leader and the man who sacrificed their entire mercenary troop, the Band of the Hawk, to attain godhood as a member of the God Hand. As the line between humanity and monstrosity blurs, Guts must struggle against the tides of causality to protect the few companions he has left and reclaim his destiny.
