Overview

Synopsis

Fang Heng was a regular guy who died and transmigrated into a parallel world where the entire planet is forced into a high-stakes "Global Game." Each player is sent into different game worlds—primarily zombie apocalypses—where they must scavenge, build, and survive to earn points that translate to real-world status and resources.
Unlike other players who struggle to find food and fight off single zombies, Fang Heng carries a unique "AFK System." While others are manually chopping wood or barricading doors, Fang Heng can command an army of zombie clones to do the work for him 24/7. While he sleeps, his "laborers" are leveling up his skills, mining rare ores, and building fortresses. As the "King of AFK," Fang Heng quickly becomes an anomaly in the game, turning a terrifying survival struggle into a massive industrial management simulation, eventually uncovering the dark truth behind the "Global Game" itself.

Notes

Special Notes

  • Unique Gameplay Mechanics: The novel is popular for its "idle game" logic. It avoids the typical "fighting every second" trope by focusing on the protagonist's strategic use of his clones to automate the apocalypse.
  • Scale Expansion: The story starts in a standard zombie survival setting but eventually scales up to inter-dimensional wars, high-tech sci-fi weaponry, and complex political factions involving the real-world government.
  • Translation Quality: The Henyee translation is generally well-regarded, though some readers find the technical descriptions of crafting and building to be a bit repetitive in the middle arcs.

Librarian's Notes

One of the most underrated novels I've ever read. While most people might not like this due to issues like low translation quality and very slow progression, it's undeniably one of the most enjoyable novels you can read... that is, if you pass the 1000 chapters. This novel has the best world-building I've read so far in this genre, at least, and truth be told, I really enjoy reading this more than anything—no romantic subplot bullshit, straightforward and realistic MC. I've noticed many people drop it because they assumed it's the same as all the other slop out there, but I would say they're wrong. It might not be the best, but this is still one of the best novels in my opinion. Though there are too many faults keeping it from reaching masterpiece level, or else it might just be the best novel out there. And for people complaining about the pacing... I would say you guys are too naive.
